How do I enrol students in my course?

Some courses on the Grok Learning platform are only accessible to students explicitly enrolled in the course (for example, university courses). There are two ways that students can be enrolled in the course:

  1. They are explicitly enrolled by a Course Coordinator (see below). If you enrol students this way, they will receive an email with details on how to register their account and access the course.
  2. They access the course via an LMS link (eg. via Canvas)

Course Coordinator enrolments

A Course Coordinator can enrol students directly in the course.

From your Launchpad, click on the course, and then click the Edit Enrolments button.

You can either type or paste text into the box, or upload a file containing the student information. You must have headings in your file, or in the text you type or paste. The headings must match the headings below.

Student enrolment information

The email address of the student is the only mandatory column. If the student email address is already associated with a Grok Learning account, the student will be enrolled in this course. If this email address is not associated with a Grok Learning account, the student will get an email explaining how to register an account.

We recommend using Groups (see below) to make it easy for Tutors to manage smaller groups of students.

Email
Required. The email address of the student.
Username
Optional. The institution-specific unique identifier username for the student.
Gender
Optional. The gender of the student for metrics/analytics purposes only. Should be F for female, M for male, or O or X for other.
Group
Optional. The textual name of a group to place the student in. Groups are used to partition the tutor dashboard into particular subsets of students (e.g. tutorials).
First Name
Optional. The first name of the student if you'd like to pre-empt SSO's population of this information.
Last Name
Optional. The last name of the student if you'd like to pre-empt SSO's population of this information.
